Skate Park Marina

The following design is intended to redevelop an urban space owned by the City of Montalto, Viterbo (Italy). The project aims to provide to the city an important and contemporary sport structure in a forgotten park that, today, is rarely used by the community.
In particular, the project needed to be well integrated into the context and able to host skaters and BMX riders.
While BMX is already a recognized sport at several levels, skating will become part of the Olympic games only from Tokyo 2020, with the further aim of bringing this event closer to the youngest.
In the wake of this phenomenon, the City Administration has felt the need to respond by dedicating an area to a skate park.
Therefore, this structure will give the opportunity to practice this sport in safety, otherwise performed through the streets and in public squares.

The intervention organized an open space by remodeling the ground surface through multiple artifacts and floorings, avoiding any type of volumes.
Overall, as well as encouraging the practice of a sport of proven success among young people, the entire project aims to represent a urban place for the community and appealing turism with the performance of events.
